Marieke Dhont

Marieke Dhont completed a joint doctorate at the Université catholique de Louvain and KU Leuven (Belgium) in 2016 with a dissertation on the Old Greek text of Job. During her doctoral formation, she spent two extended research stays at the University of Cambridge. After a visiting fellowship at St John's College in Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada) in 2016-2017, she is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Université de Lorraine in Metz.

Her main areas of interest are the Hebrew Bible in the Hellenistic period and Jewish-Greek literature. In her work, she engages sociolinguistics and contemporary theories of culture, literature, and translation. Her monograph, entitled Style and Context of Old Greek Job, will appear later with Brill in in 2018 as part of the series Supplements to the Journal for the Study of Judaism. She is currently also involved in the new edition of the Hebrew manuscripts of Ben Sira, alongside Jean-Sébastien Rey, Jan Joosten, and Eric Reymond.
